Bloomingdale Public Schools offers Free Breakfast every day to all students

All students will have an opportunity to get free breakfast every day at school.  Breakfast is offered 20 minutes prior to the start of the school day.  We have hot and cold options available throughout the week.   We are committed to making sure every student starts their day with a healthy nutritious meal.

Mini-Society Fun

The fourth grade classes at Bloomingdale Elementary have been learning about how money flows through a society (economic principles) by making their own products and creating their own businesses. This annual event has included some very creative business ideas. 2016-2017 Bloomingdale Preschool: Great Start Readiness Program

Bloomingdale Public Schools has a long history of offering free preschool to qualifying 4 year olds through the state funded Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP).  This tradition will continue for the 2016-2017 school year with the Van Buren Intermediate School District partnering to run the classrooms at both Bloomingdale and Pullman Elementary Schools.

Bloomingdale Elementary is pleased to introduce two new teachers, Mrs. Rebecca Finch and Mr. Vinnie Booker, to our staff this year. Mrs. Finch graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science degree and has also taken classes towards her Educational Leadership degree. Read-A-Thon

On March 18th, Bloomingdale Elementary held their 8th annual Read-a-thon.  Students spent the morning going from one station to the next reading books from different authors and from different genres.  The Read-a-thon is held to raise money for our Accelerated Reader program.  This year the students raised just over $4500.00!!!  This was our most successful Read-a-thon yet!!  90 students raised $20 or more and earned a free book and an extra recess.  40 students raised $50 or more and got ...

NED Comes to Bloomingdale Elementary

On a dreary Friday afternoon in March, the students of Bloomingdale Elementary were introduced to a not-so-dreary, cartoon cut-out character named NED. NED’s human presenter, Gary Garland, regaled students and staff with his ability to tell hilarious stories all while effortlessly spinning a yo-yo. His abilities ranged from turning the yo-yo string into the Eiffel Tower and a rocket ship to suspending the yo-yo mid-air or spinning it “around the world”. Family Literacy Night

Bloomingdale Elementary was pleased to welcome about 70 students and their families to Family Literacy Night on Thursday, March 24th. Teachers, staff, and parents signed up to host a book and make posters to hang in the cafeteria “advertising” their story and activity. If you have a child that will be four or five by December 1, 2016, please contact either elementary building for enrollment information. When enrolling a student, please be prepared to provide a birth certificate and shot records. The phone number for Bloomingdale Elementary is 521-3935 and Pullman Elementary is 236-5235. Elementary offices will be open each day from 8:00-3:00.
