Pullman Elementary Student Council 2016-2017

Last week Pullman Elementary held an election for their Student Council Representatives.  These representatives are responsible for raising and lowering the flag, helping with various activities around the school, sponsoring movie afternoons during the school year, and holding fundraisers to purchase needed items that will benefit everyone here at Pullman Elementary.

Introducing Lindsay Smith

We are pleased to welcome, Miss Lindsay Smith, as our new special education teacher. She will be taking on the roles and responsibilities with the departure of Miss Knevitt.

Miss Smith graduated from Western Michigan University with a BA in Political Science and Education and earned a Master’s of Education in Special Education from Calvin College. Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra Trip

Bloomingdale Public Schools graciously allowed ALL of Pullman Elementary to attend the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra (KSO).  Students were dressed up and looking spiffy to attend this event.  Students were able to listen to several composers and discern different patterns in their pieces.  It was fun to watch the talented musicians perform live right in front of us!  As expected they really left our students “wanting more” by playing the popular orchestra piece, STAR WARS.

Pullman Elementary Garden Project

Nothing tastes better than fresh produce straight out of the garden and the students at Pullman Elementary are going to experience just that!  A team of staff and community members recently spent a Saturday morning building seven raised garden beds for the students to grow fresh vegetables.  Students will plant and care for the gardens as a hands on approach to learning both science and life skills.  As the veggies become ripe, the students will be able to taste and ...

First Grade Visits the Butterflies

On March 31, the 1st grade classes went to Frederick Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids to see the butterflies. The students were able to see the full life cycle of the butterfly, close up and personal. Some of the chrysalises had just changed into butterflies. And the number and variety of butterflies was great.
