BOARD BRIEFS
March 24, 2008
At its
regular meeting Monday night, March 24, 2008, at the Bloomingdale High School,
the Board of Education:
- Received
reports from building administrators as to the events that are going on in
the buildings.
- Reviewed
the current edition from the School Equity Caucus Newsletter on the per
pupil funding for next year.
- Heard
an update on the building project on completing post-bids.
- Received
reports from building principals of Pullman Elementary, Bloomingdale
Elementary and Bloomingdale Middle School on the overview of the M.E.A.P.
scores.
- Approved
the purchase of two Houghton Mifflin Kindergarten Reading Programs.
- Approved
the Athletic Program Strategic Plan.
- Approved
the resignation of Doug McNees as a bus driver.
- Approved
a 1-year leave of absence for Alan Farnquist for the 2008-2009 school
Year.
- Approved
Bette Sapp as the J.V. Softball Coach for the 2008 Season
- Approved
the following Fall 2008 coaching recommendations:
Shannon Butler – Varsity Cheer
Shot Cottle – Varsity Volleyball
Ben Munoz – Cross Country
- Tabled
the football coaches recommendations.
- Renewed
one-year contracts for the following personnel: Rick Reo, Kevin Simmons, Deb Paquette, Patrick Creagan and
Bill Napp.
- Approved
the V.B.I.S.D. general fund budget for the 2008-2009 school year.
- Approved
to expel Student A for 180 days from the middle school.
- Approved
to suspend Student B for the remainder of the 2007-2008 school year from
the high school.
- Approved
to suspend Student C for the remainder of the 2007-2008 school year from
the high school.
- Heard
from Mr. Gile on why coaches were not questioned by Board prior to tabling
the football recommendations.
- Heard
from Mr. Remington not wanting to see cuts made to the bond proposal.
- Heard
from Mr. Lemmer on maybe having a committee set up to work on keeping the
proposals in place and fundraisers/donations.
- Went
into closes session for the purpose to discuss the superintendent’s
evaluation.
