Instructions for Posting to the Internet

General

To submit announcements for the scroll: Email webmaster@bdalecards.org .  Make the subject line be “scroll news”.  On one line of the email type the heading for the news such as Elementary Open House. Skip a line and then type the scroll message exactly the way you want it. Keep it short. Following the message, skip another line and give the time frame that it should run. Example:  Run from 8/30 to 9/10.

Building Principals

We’ll have to work through this on a case by case basis depending on what you want posted. John Rawson will be my student webmaster this year. You can email him at webmaster@bdalecards.org and either describe what you want or ask him to make an appointment with you to go over your plans for the web pages you want.  Also, we have the ability to turn virtually any form you use in your building into a PDF file so that teachers or parents can print the form themselves and send it in.

Building Secretaries

You have a K: drive which links to the main location of our web files. Type your daily or weekly announcements in Word. When you go to save it, give it the name “announce”. Save it as type web page. You need to save it in your T drive. You need to browse to your building and then to the news page:

            Pullman_elemàpullman_pagesàpullman_news

            Bdale_elemàbelem_pagesàbelem_news

            Bdale_highàhigh_pagesàhigh_news

            Bdale_middleàmiddle_pagesàmiddle_news

Save your document again in the same place but this time call it announce_mon if it is Monday, or announce_tue if it is Tuesday, etc. Use three letters for the day.

The preceding information is for announcements that should be available to students and the public. If you have the need to post teacher memos, etc., this can be done quite simply. Only teachers and staff will be able to view these. Let me know if you want to do something like this.

Teachers

Teachers have a T: drive which is called “TWEBS” which stands for Teacher WEBS.

Double click on the folder that has your last name as the folder name.

Your home webpage should be saved into your folder. Your home page should be named with your last name dot htm.  Mike Asmus home page is named “asmus.htm”, etc.

All of your links and images are your responsibility. Save all pages and images within the folder of your last name.

Changes in your pages will be uploaded to the Internet every few days.
