| Computer Labs - Signup and Guidelines | |
1. Teachers sign up for computer lab time using the facilities use calendar link on the school home page. 2. Each individual teacher is responsible for student behavior in the lab. Teachers should familiarize themselves with school policy regarding student use of computers and printers within the labs. 3. Teachers should have students help pick up loose papers and excess printer paper from the lab before they leave. 4. Look around to make sure keyboards are relatively straight, monitors facing seats, mice are all there, etc. You should leave the room in a way you would like to find it when you are coming in. |

| Printing Guidelines | |
1. Basically, students should have teacher permission to print. 2. The high school media lab has controlled printing based on teacher permission. 3. If a print job does not print, you should not attempt to print again until the problem is located. 4. Use color printing sparingly 5. Students who print excessive pages whether on purpose or because they did not know what they are doing will be charged 10 cents/page bw and 50 cents/page color. 6. We highly recommend that students not be allowed to go up to the printer to pick up print jobs. Rather, teachers should periodically remove print jobs from the printer and distribute them to students. |

| Students Bringing Files From Home | |
Students may bring files from home if they created them themselves. Examples might include homework assignments which were typed at home and brought to school for printing. Flash drives should be scanned for viruses. For instructions on how to do that click here. |
|
| Computers On/Off | |
| Computers should be logged off but left powered on during weekdays and turned off on weekends and before vacations. | |
| Student Passwords and Acceptable Use Policy | |
Students are assigned new passwords every year. Accounts are not activated until the student has brought in a signed acceptable use policy form. Click here for copies of the acceptable use policy. Students are not to use another student's logon at any time. If a student account is disabled, it is for a reason. Infringement of school computer or Internet policies may result in an account being disabled. Serious offenses will require attention by the principal or dean of students for resolution before accounts are enabled again. |

| Music/Video Downloads | |
| Music and Videos are NOT to be downloaded to individual computers or to the district servers except for specific class assignments. Students who are found to have excessive music and/or video downloads will lose their passwords for a period of time. | |

| Filtering - Websense | |
Websense is a subscription software package to which the district subscribes. Most decisions as to categories of sites are made by Websense, although we can override those if we choose to. All uncategorized sites are blocked from students. If you are preparing a lesson and have any concerns about particular web sites that you may want to use with your students, it is best to plan ahead and have a student attempt to get to the site you are planning to use. If you find the site is blocked, please contact the technology office to have the site opened for students. Some of the screens in Websense look as if they are blocked but they actually allow you to continue either using quota time or simply allow you to continue once you have read the message. All Internet use is monitored. This monitoring includes staff as well as students. If a student stumbles upon a page that would violate the district policy, he should report it to his teacher immediately. If this should happen to you as a teacher, please report it to the technology office as soon as possible. |

Just because a picture, audio clip or video clip is downloadable does not mean it is in the public domain. Please check the website for indications as to whether the material is free for public use. Otherwise it is necessary to assume it is copyrighted material. |
