Spyware continues to be a problem throughout the district. Microsoft has now provided an excellent anti-spyware program that will run on Windows XP computers. We have had very good success in cleaning out infected computers. The result has been computers that run more quickly and smoothly. You will find the program on the S drive under virus info. The program is called: Microsoft Antispyware Install. Please copy it from its location on the S drive to your desktop or your C drive before running it.
When you run the install program, please accept all of the prompts. The last install screen has a box to check Launch Microsoft AntiSpyware. Check that box then select Finish.
Once
installed, you get to a Microsoft AntiSpyware Setup Assistant Screen. Click
Next on each screen until you get to the Finish button.

Then
click the Run Scan Now button

If you get a screen like this at some point, choose the option Run an intelligent quick scan.

If the scan shows up any spyware, you will get a message like this:

Click on the View Results button.
You will then get a screen that lists what was found and a graph showing the threat level.
The screen looks like the one shown below. You will notice that to the left side of each threat name there is a box that may say remove, like the screen below or it may say something else. We recommend that if it says anything else, you use the drop down box there to choose Remove instead. Then click the Continue Button.

After you click continue, you get the next verification box.

Choose Yes

When cleaning is complete you get a screen like that shown above. Click OK and you should be done.
